A Reason to Wear Orange

Guelph, Ontario - September 30th is Orange Shirt Day. This is a time to acknowledge residential schools' effects on Indigenous Canadians. This day is always celebrated at the end of September, recognizing the time of year when many children were taken and brought to residential schools.

"Reconciliation involves all Canadians joining together to learn about past injustices and to recognize the important contributions of Indigenous peoples in the future of Canada," said Canada's Minister of Indigenous Service, Jane Philpott and Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Minister Carolyn Bennett in a statement.
